Tips in English

This document contains some useful tips for users of the L_H: an HTML/XML viewer for DOS. Please be aware this program is not a browser. It does not offer any support for scripting languages etc.

1. With this program a file is distributed showing some examples of what the program can do with simple HTML tags, lists, tables etc. If you what to check these samples select this link.

2. This program offers several options. Generally there are two ways to set these options: permanent (default) setting in the .INI file or temporary by using the command line options. Please check the .INI file paragraph [L_H-setup] and the program description for detailed information.

3. Although XML is not primarily intended to be used for text documents this program allows you to read XML documents. If you want to use XML functionality please add the file L_H_XML to your .INI file. This adds support for some general XML tags.

4. If you want to change the configuration (.INI file) of the program please first unpack the L_H_INI ZIP-file distributed with the program.

5. You can change the L_H.INI file if you have special wishes. You can just change L_H.INI file manually or change the basic .INI file components L_H_I***.

6. This program can be used with different or multiple user-interface languages. If you want to change the user-interface language use the DOS batch-files L_H_I.BAT (straight forward) or L_H_INI.BAT.

7. The program can be instructed to give you information on HTML tags, text lay-out etc. If you select the PLAIN TEXT option (L_H_I.BAT choice X) or use the basic file L_H_IDPL no additional text will be added.

8. If you are interested to use an alternate user-interface you can translate the L_H_IIUK message file.

9. If you encounter memory shortage problems you can check if XMS memory is available and how much memory is used before the problems occur. Use the Shift-F1 key to see a status overview.

Tips for senthetic speech users

1. The program supports "continuous reading". Dit is a facility several screen readers offer to read a text from begin to end. If you want to use this option activate the cursor navigatie mode by using "+". YoU can still use the Tab and Shift-Tab keys. With some screen readers you will need to re-activate the "continuous reading".

Tips for braille users

1. If screen coordinates are mention in messages (e.g. for the search text and text grabbing facility) these coordinates refer to the real screen lines based on a 25 lines/80 characters scale. Your brailledisplay might well give the correct line/column numbers.

Tips in het Nederlands

Dit document bevat enkele nuttige tips voor het gebruik van het HTML/XML lees-programma voor DOS L_H. Let op: dit programma is geen browser; het biedt geen ondersteuning voor script-talen etc.

1. Bij het programma wordt een bestand verspreid met enkele voorbeelden om te laten zien, wat het programma doet met bepaalde eenvoudige HTML elementen, lijsten, tabellen e.d. Om deze voorbeelden (in het engels) te zien, kies dan deze link.

2. Dit programma biedt diverse gebruiksopties. In het algemeen gesproken zijn er twee manieren om deze opties in te stellen: permanent (standaard) instelling in het .INI bestand of tijdelijk mbv de commando-regel opties. Zie de .INI bestand paragraaf [L_H-setup] en de programmabeschrijving voor gedetailleerde informatie.

3. Alhoewel XML in eerste instantie niet bedoeld is om het lezen van tekst documenten biedt dit programma u de mogelijkheid om XML documenten te lezen. Als u van deze functionaliteit gebruik wilt maken, voeg dan het bestand L_H_XML toe aan uw .INI bestand. Dit voegt ondersteuning toe voor enkele algemene XML elementen.

4. Als u specifieke wensen hebt, kunt u het L_H.INI configuratie-bestand zelf aanpassen. U kunt eenvoudig het bestand L_H.INI aanpassen of de basis .INI configuratie componenten L_H_I*** aanpassen.

5. Als u de configuratie (.INI bestand) van het programma wilt wijzigen, moet u eerst het ZIP-bestand L_H_INI uitpakken, dat verspreid wordt met het programma.

6. Dit programma kan gebruikt worden met verschillende of meerdere gebruikers-interface talen. Als u de gebruikers-interface wilt wijzigen gebruik dan de DOS batch-bestanden L_H_I.BAT (eenvoudig) of L_H_INI.BAT.

7. Het programma kan worden geïnstrueerd om u informatie over tekst lay-out e.d. te laten zien. Als u dat niet wilt kies dan de "PLAIN TEXT" optie (L_H_I.BAT keuze G) of gebruik het basis configuratie-bestand L_H_IDPL. Alle lay-out-teksten zullen dan niet meer verschijnen.

8. Als u een alternatieve gebruikers-interface wilt gebruiken vertaal dan het berichten-bestand L_H_IIUK. De engelstalige versie van het gebruikers-interfacebestand wordt als leidraad gezien.

9. Als u last hebt van problemen, die te maken hebben met te weinig geheugen, kunt u controleren of XMS geheugen beschikbaar is en hoeveel geheugen gebruikt wordt voordat de problemen optreden. Gebruik de Shift-F1 toets om een status overaciht te krijgen.

Tips voor senthetische spraak gebruikers

1. Het programma biedt ondersteuning voor "doorlezen". Dit is een faciliteit, die diverse screen readers geboeden wordt om een tekst van begin tot eind te lezen. Als u deze optie wilt gebruiken schakel dan de cursor navigatie mode in mbv "+". U kunt nu nog steeds de Tab en Shift-Tab toetsen gebruiken. Bij sommige screen readers moet u wel weer de "doorlezen"-keuze opnieuw kiezen.

Tips voor braillelezers

1. Als scherm coördinaten worden gebruikt in berichten (bijvoorbeeld bij de zoek-tekst en tekst-kopie faciliteit), dan worden deze coördinaten weergegeven als de werkelijke scherm regels gebaseerd op een 25 regels/80 tekens schaal. Uw brailledisplay zou dus correcte regel/kolom waarden kunnen weergeven.
